Ardenwood, Fremont CA

Ardenwood

Ardenwood is one of our favorite communities in Fremont and has a lot to offer buyers. The 5 things that we love most about Ardenwood are: the Schools, the Easy Commute, the Easy Shopping, the proximity to Parks, and that it has homes that appeal to different price segments. Ardenwood is one of the newer communities built in Fremont as it was first established around 1980s where as most of the other areas in Fremont were built between the 1950s to 1970s.

Schools

The first appeal of Ardenwood is that the associated elementary, middle and high schools are highly rated. The two elementary schools are Forest Park and Ardenwood elementary. Both of these amazing elementary schools feed into Thornton Middle and American High school. To give you a baseline, the highest scoring schools in Fremont are Mission San Jose elementary and Mission San Jose high school, and more than 70% of their students exceed the standard.

Easy Commute

Traffic in the bay area is getting worse as the commute is taking up most of people’s time. Fremont is very geocentric, as you are 30-45 minutes away from surrounding major cities such as San Jose, Palo Alto, San Francisco, and Pleasanton. From Ardenwood, you can easily hop on 84 West to go to the peninsula side, or hop on 84 East to go towards the Pleasanton/Sunol area. Ardenwood is also a few minutes away from 880 if you want to commute south towards Milpitas, Santa Clara, San Jose area, or go North towards Oakland, Berkeley, and San Francisco. If you are not interested in driving; this area also offers two Bart stations nearby, either South Hayward, or Union City.

Shopping

Another factor that could play a role in your decision of which areas to purchase a home are nearby grocery shopping and restaurants. Last thing anyone wants to do after a long day of work and commuting is having to drive another 15 minutes to go buy essentials. Ardenwood community is located very close to 3 shopping areas. You have a plaza in Newark right next to 84, called Rosemont Square Shopping Center. There you can find a Safeway, Sprouts, and a 99 ranch market. They also have a huge variety of restaurants, some of our favorites are tasty pot, Pho Nation, Los Gallos Taqueria, and Vitality bowl.

The second shopping center nearby is called Ardenwood Plaza, right off of Paseo Padre and Deep Creek. They have a great pizza spot called Bombay Pizza. I highly recommend their Chicken Tikka and Chicken Masala pizza. Right next door is also a smaller supermarket called Namaste India. This plaza not only offers restaurants and groceries, they also have a Genius Kids as well, if you are considering after school education.

The third one that is also close by is the 99 Ranch plaza off of Fremont Blvd and Paseo Padre. This one is similar to Rosemont square in terms of what they offer. Just diagonal of this plaza you can find a Lucky’s and more restaurants. Some of my favorite places to eat there are One Pieve Lamian and Pings Bistro. Ping Bistro is a restaurant that offers amazing food for spice lovers.

Parks

Within walking distance, across the street from the Ardenwood communities you also have a great hiking trail in Coyote Hills Regional Park along with Don Edwards Wildlife. Coyote Hills has trails with different levels of difficulty in steepness that provides you a great view of the bay and the peninsula. They also have trails that can lead you to the Alameda Creek Trail, which is a great place to bike and walk your pets. If you are looking for something more hands-on and educational, Don Edwards is a great place to learn about the local wildlife and they usually hold events and educational tours.

If you are looking for something more for sports, or an outing, they also have a few public parks nearby. The first one and also the biggest park is Karl Nordvik Park, right on Ardenwood Blvd towards 84. Here you can find a huge grass field along with a turf field for soccer or football. They also offer basketball courts and a playground.

The next nearby park would be Forest Park right next to the elementary school. Here you can find a huge grassfield, playground, and a tennis court. Ardenwood elementary also provides the same amenities as well, only they do not have a Tennis court.

Right across 880, towards the Northgate side, you can also find two community parks as well. One is called the Northgate Community park, which is very similar to Karl Nordvik. If you want to go somewhere smaller, they have a park called Crandall Creek Park.

The Homes

Now going on to the meat and potatoes of this community are the different developmentsyou can get in Ardenwood.

For entry homes, one of the communities we love out of the many, is Villa D’este, right off of Paseo Padre and Ardenwood Blvd. These are 3 story townhomes built around 2010. The community offers amenities such as a playground, grass field, and clubhouse. They have a variety of layouts and sizes ranging for 1200 to slightly over 2000 square feet homes.

The middle tier homes: one of the communities we love is right next to Forest Park elementary. They were built in the late 1980s to early 1990s construction. They offer homes from around 1500 to over 2000 square foot homes. The reason why we love this area is that you are so close to the school and the park, which is easily accessible via walking or biking.

The highest priced community would be Patterson Ranch. This community is one of the newest communities in Ardenwood, built in 2016-2018 they offer some of the largest homes in the area. Starting from 2000 square feet to close to 3500 square feet. They also offer some of the larger lots in Fremont for those wanting more land. The premium lots can range from 5,000 to around 9,000 square feet. The average lot size for Ardenwood would be around 3,500. Patterson ranch also offers a park within the community, with a grass field and playground.
